Greetings, loyal minions. Your Maximum Leader wanted to point out that today is the 300th anniversary of the Act of Union of 1707 going into effect.

On this day, the Kingdoms of England and Scotland were joined as one to form the Kingdom of Great Britain.

Your Maximum Leader believes the Union has been a great benefit to both England and Scotland. He further believes that the dissolution of the Union - which always seems to be right around the corner - would be a tragic turn for both nations. Indeed, in the history of the world he can’t think of a more successful union between two peoples than that of the English and the Scots.

Sure there are quibbles here and there and not everything has been great all the time, but in the end Great Britain is greater than the sum of her parts.
